Opening up to the unexpected
When I applied for the internship, I wasn’t 100% sure that Channel marketing really was for me, as I studied PR & Branding. But I wanted to start my career at a large company, where there are so many different people to learn from and so many different things to learn, so I decided to open myself up for this opportunity and to absorb as much knowledge as possible.

Cultivating organizational skills
One of my tasks was to support the organization of one of the many trade shows that we attend with animal lighting. For our closest relations I organized a boat tour through Utrecht followed by a dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed organizing this and the trust my manager instilled on me by giving me a lot of independence in organizing. In my role as Marcoms trainee at horticulture and animal lighting I will be as a duck to water as there will be many similar events where I can add value by providing my support.
Key advice: embrace the experience
That my manager pushed me out of my comfort zone every now and then helped me gain a lot of professional and personal growth, giving me the best career start I could have wished for. That is also my advice for people who want to join Signify: don’t be afraid to try, you will get a very solid foundation for your future.
